About the Program The Kaiser Permanente Summer Youth Employment Program is a 6-week paid internship for prospective pre-health students (grades 10 – 12, ≥16 y/o). It is an opportunity for students to learn about healthcare careers through an academic-based skill demonstration project as well as through education day training designed to prepare students for a career in healthcare. During the program: • Gain exposure to a variety of non-clinical and allied-health professions, as well as healthcare operations via education days • Present a Community Awareness Project—an opportunity for students to research and design a strategy to address community-related healthcare disparities • Receive skills training and mentorship in educational and career success, college readiness, interview preparedness, and communication and leadership skills •Develop and practice a variety of social, technical and employability skills, e.g. timeliness and professionalism Criteria and Requirements • Must be a current high-school student (≥16 y/o), 11th and 12thgraders are given priority. • Cannot be a dependent of a Kaiser Permanente employee. • Attendance is mandatory for the duration of the 6-week program; Monday – Friday, from 8am to 12pm. • Program dates are 06/17/2024 – 08/07/2024 Medical Center Site Specifics • Summer School or Vacations during this 6-week period must not interfere with your work schedule • Must have flexible availability for assigned shift (am or pm) Dates: Application Open 2/1/24—3/17/24
